Bereavement

Supporting school communities faced with bereavement

At a time of unique challenge for schools and families, many school communities will experience bereavement over the coming months. LGfL and Child Bereavement UK have already created two key resources to help schools in this area:

When a pupil suffers a bereavement: this comprehensive training tool will help school staff develop the required understanding, skills and confidence to support pupils and families who experience a bereavement.

When a pupil or staff member dies: Although grief is natural, the support given to pupils has a significant long-term impact on how they cope. Find out what to do when faced with a sudden death.

Child Bereavement UK have produced these short guidance films and downloadable information sheets to offer some guidance to help you support pupils, as well as helping manage bereavement in the school community during these challenging times.
